Therapeutic Somatic Yoga

Yoga serves as a powerful therapeutic tool addressing a multitude of physical and mental responses.

Mind-body research is now highlighting the effectiveness of Yoga as a treatment for chronic pain, mental responses, cardiovascular disease, and more.

Yoga, when approached from a trauma-informed, integrative, therapeutic perspective, delves into a comprehensive somatic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and the integration of Eastern and Western methodologies.

While a yoga teacher typically focuses on instructing yoga asanas (poses), a Therapeutic Somatic Yoga Practitioner takes a different approach. The emphasis is less on teaching poses and more on applying specific yoga techniques to help individuals alleviate symptoms through personalized Therapeutic Somatic Yoga Sessions.

These one-on-one sessions are tailored to assist students in living a better quality of life, aiding them in healing and coping with physically demanding or sedentary lifestyles, mental responses, ailments, or injuries.

These sessions are beneficial for individuals with various lifestyles, mental responses, ailments, and injuries, including:

Client Success Story

Mind-body, health & wellness, yoga, bodywork

Doing a yoga therapeutics program with Nicole has completely changed my body and improved the constant pain I was in. I’ve suffered from tendinitis in my hips for 10+ years and was formally diagnosed with hamstring tendinosis about 4 years ago, which was unfortunately the end of my running days. My daily pain levels on a scale of 1 – 10 would run around a 7 or an 8, a 6 was a good day. I spent an incredible amount of time, effort, and money on orthopedic doctors, physical therapy, MRIs, chiropractic, massage, and dry needling – NONE of it worked for the long haul. After five sessions over three months with Nicole, my daily pain levels are anywhere between 1 and 3, with the average being a 2. After talking through my goals and habits, she assessed my body to figure out the true source of the issue. Our sessions were a combination of rehabilitation exercises, stretches and yoga, all of which were specifically designed to help strengthen my weak areas. She gave me PDF training plans after each one of our sessions that I can refer to – I call them my little body bibles – I’ll use them to continue the road to healing & recovery. Nicole also combines other modalities with yoga, including well-being coaching, myofascial release, and Thai massage. I don’t know where I would be without her help and will return for more – in addition to be incredibly gifted yogi & coach, she radiates a wonderful light and energy. Highly recommended!
