When you work with me, one on one, your practice and connection to yourself evolves. This personal guidance assists you in understanding the mechanics of your individual body, being and mind. 

While the focus of a yoga teacher is to teach yoga asanas (poses), the focus of a yoga therapeutic specialist is less about teaching yoga asanas (poses) and more about applying specific yoga and wellness techniques to help a person reduce symptoms they may be dealing with, through a customized yoga therapeutics sessions. 

These are personalized, ongoing 1 on 1 sessions aimed to assist students with living a better quality of life, allowing them to heal and/or cope with physically demanding lifestyles, sedentary lifestyles, mental responses, ailments, or injuries and is also great for prevention and durability.

Practicing Yoga
Yoga Studio

Myofascial Release is the science behind the roll of fascia. Here, we use myofascial release techniques, from a therapeutic standpoint, to help supplement your connective tissue health and movement which helps with performance enhancement, recovery and prevents injuries.

 

In a Myofascial Release Session we will

  • Examine the function and dysfunction of the fascia

  • Identify common areas and trigger points in the body

  • Apply simple, mindful application to these trigger points 

 

Myofascial release is beneficial to those with

  • Pain

  • Injuries

  • Movement restrictions (limited range of motion)

  • Muscle fatigue & soreness

  • Stress

Traditionally given on a floor mat with clients fully clothed, Thai Yoga Bodywork is a whole body treatment that combines passive stretching and movement of joints with several touch techniques and works along energy meridians (called sen in Thai). The whole treatment is a graceful, nurturing, interactive dance that is sensitive to the condition of each person.

A compliment to Thai Yoga Bodywork is Assisted Stretching. Bodywork techniques are supplemented with Yoga Therapeutic's hands on assists to increase range of motion, mobility, and realign fascial structures. These sessions incorporate Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) to reset your bodies firing mechanisms to prevent injury and encourage your body to function efficiently.

Every living thing on the planet has an energy field. This field is external and internal. Through Holy Fire® Reiki, Reiki & Restore, Chakra Balancing and Energy Clearing Sessions, we can bring our energy back into balance.

Mindfulness is a form of meditation where you focus on being aware of what's arising. You tap into what you're sensing and feeling in the moment without feeling the need to manipulate, change or judge anything. Practicing mindfulness involves breathwork, imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind.

 

Mindsight Centered Mindfulness Training

 

Using MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and IPNB (Interpersonal Neurobiology) Mindsight approaches coained by Dr. Daniel Siegel we will explore different modalities to suite your individual needs and desire to manage stress and other triggers.

Next, with the use of goal setting and coaching worksheets, we will focus on who you want to become. Imagine how you envision your life. Focus on the direction you are aiming. 

In the gap between who you are and who you want to be, resides your authentic self. Using Positive Psychology Health & Wellness Coaching exercises, we will reconnect you with your authentic self, allowing you to live a satisfied, fulfilled, balanced life that's aligned with your vision.

Workshops give us the opportunity to learn and discuss the applications of these wonderful holistic health and wellness and well-being modalities that typical classes do not. 

 

ZENshops are a way to workin instead of workout. These focus more on the healing and restorative aspects of these modalities. 

All Workshops & ZENShops through Nicole Starr Therapeutics can count towards continual education hours with Yoga Alliance. A certification of completion is available upon request.
