New Year, ReNewed You ReTreat

Look, you know I’m not a big fan of New You messages because the truth is, we don’t just get to hit the “reset” button in January. But my GOODNESS, wouldn't that be nice if that were true? Wouldn't it be nice to say "Ouch, I really made a mess of that year... clean slate, let's try again." And then, magically, the pain you've felt and hurt you've caused goes away, the mistakes you've experienced disappear, the missteps, the misfortunes, the, welll, misses just *poof* vanish. Yes, that would be a really nice reality, but it's just not real. (Put down the toaster Bill Murray!) 

Here's the truth, we carry it, alll of it, with us and it can get really heavy. Shoving it (whatever "it" is for you) into pockets of our heart, portions of our body, pieces of our soul, does not make it go away... it just hides it. And DAMN, will that shit come up at the worst possible time, right?

So let's empty ourselves for a moment. Let's dump it all out on the ground (what do you think inversions are for) without shame, fear or judgement.. And let's ReFill. Let's embrace this safe space to ReTell our story and ReWrite our ending. 

THAT’S what January should be about.

It’s not a NEW you. It’s a ReNewed you.

But here’s the thing. You don’t really have to wait for the new year to do that. It’s just a good time because it’s the elusive reset button everyone wishes was real. Yes, I believe it can be, in it's own way, but not in the way we imagine. (The truth is, the best things in life never work out the way we imagined.) 

That being said, if you’re booked through the rest of the year like I am, it really can be a good time to drop some of the heaviness we’ve all been carrying and spend a little time clearing our mental, physical, emotional pockets.

There’s a wonderful restaurant onsite where you can make reservations or visit downtown Dahlonega just 15 minutes away. (Because of dietary restrictions and to be mindful of people’s budgets, meals will be on your own. Some rooms have fridge options if you’d like to bring your own food.)
